Seit Beginn des Krieges um die Ukraine erreichen uns zahlreiche Bilder zerstörter russischer Panzer sowie sonstiger motorisierter Einheiten. Ein großer Teil wurde, folgt man der Berichterstattung, aus der Luft von unbemannten bewaffneten Militärdrohnen zerstört. Der Einsatz dieser Kampfdrohnen ist nicht neu. So setzen die USA weltweit seit Jahren Drohnen ein und nehmen dabei leider auch tausende zivile Opfer in Kauf, wie veröffentlichte vertrauliche Dokumente vor einigen Monaten enthüllt haben. Und auch der Angriff Aserbaidschans auf Armenien im Herbst 2020 war gekennzeichnet durch den Einsatz von Drohnen.
Die in beiden Kriegen zum Einsatz kommende türkische Bayraktar TB2-Drohne gilt unter Fachleuten bereits als „Kalaschnikow des 21. Jahrhunderts“, da diese günstig und in großer Stückzahl hergestellt werden kann. Seit dem Aufkommen der Drohnen wird über die Möglichkeiten zur Abwehr diskutiert. So setzt das US-Militär bei der Abwehr von großen Drohnen auf Lenkraketen, während für die Abwehr kleinerer Drohnen Laserwaffen erprobt werden. Beide Methoden sind allerdings stark abhängig vom jeweiligen Wetter und auch sehr teuer. Ungeklärt ist zudem, wie Nachtangriffe satellitengestützter, mit Wärmebildkameras ausgestatteter Drohnen erfolgreich abgewehrt werden können. Die Bundeswehr muss bei ihrer Aufrüstung unbedingt die entsprechenden Konsequenzen ziehen und befähig werden, Angriffe unbemannter Drohnen erfolgreich abzuwehren.
